Among all the non-human citizens in Shanghai, sparrows are the most overlooked ones. Its grey feathers, faint tweets and petite physiques are easily submerged by hustle and bustle of the city. Unless you look for them purposefully, even though they live in groups, their figures are almost invisible in urban areas. I wonder where they are and how they live.
I followed traces of the sparrows in the city, especially in city center, where is commonly believed no appearance of any animals, and surprisingly found several places. By orgazning my trip into a photography book Following A Sparrow, I want to present sparrows' living situation vividly and poetically through such bombastic and surreal way in the book. I also hope people could pay more attention to these city elves who share limited urban greening and land resources with us.
The book consists of 2 parts ------ Existence & Key, corresponding separately to the surreal, fantastic style and realistic, poetical style of sparrows' livies.
The book doesn' t have certain front and back cover in the traditional sense. Readers can begin from either chapter. But to underatand it more fully will require finishing the whole book.
